Podcasts are having their heyday right now – it seems like everyone and their dog is starting a podcast and I love it! I listen to podcasts in the car, instead of turning on the radio, while I’m getting ready in the morning, at the gym, and at work (when I’m not doing something that requires me to be super focused). It’s such a great way to be exposed to new ideas and learn a lot! There are so many podcasts targeted to food bloggers (and for bloggers and food lovers separately!) These are my favourites.
It’s blueberry season! Blueberries are so fresh and delicious right now – and cheap! I bought two pints for $5 in my grocery store the other day. I’ve been sprinkling tons on my daily yogurt and granola breakfast and still haven’t made a dent in the supply!
Blueberries are high in antioxidants can lower cholesterol, prevent heart disease, improve your memory, and are good sources of vitamin C, vitamin B6, and vitamin K – all good reasons to eat your blueberries!
Chestnuts roasting on an open fire… It’s always been one of my favourite Christmas carols, and yes we are talking about Christmas already – once Remembrance Day has passed, it’s fair game to start getting excited for the holidays!
When I visited our neighbourhood farmer’s market last weekend, I saw these beautiful (and festive, I might add!) chestnuts just begging to slip their way into my shopping bag. It wasn’t until I’d purchased them that I realised I’d never actually cooked with real chestnuts before. How was this possible?!
I am a chronic list-maker. I love the feeling of getting-things-done and that feeling of satisfaction after crossing items off my list. Because summers always feel like they speed by and I often don’t manage to do everything I’ve wanted, I thought I should create a Summer Fun List.
I started compiling my list this weekend – it has two sections: to make, and to do. On the ‘to make’ list are a lot of baking and cooking projects – and this was one: Strawberry Shortcake.
